Donate your containers to support our surf lifesavers

Athletes and spectators will be able to support the vital work of volunteer surf lifesavers by recycling containers at the State Champs this weekend and next.

Envirobank recycling collection points at the event will enable the community to raise much-needed funds for Burleigh Heads Mowbray Park and Broadbeach SLSCs.

The initiative is part of a broader Container Refund Scheme (CRS) in which Envirobank Recycling and SLSQ have partnered to establish a number of collection points and community donation sites at surf clubs along the Queensland coast.

With every donated container generating 8 cents for the SLSC, not only will the scheme provide much-needed funds to support surf lifesavers, but it also helps our environment.

Competitors are encouraged to stock-up on eligible containers over the next week, and bring them to the competition in support of the volunteer lifesaving community. Or simply donate your eligible containers at the event!

While the Container Refund Scheme has only been active in Queensland since November last year, charitable donations represent a significant component to reimbursements made to the public as part of the CRS in other states.

Donation sites are located at the following Surf Life Saving Queensland clubs on the Gold Coast: Miami Beach, Mermaid Beach, North Kirra, Currumbin, Tallebudgera, Pacific, North Burleigh and Point Danger Branch.
